The first beam!
Mid span support beam, these two beams are both oak.
Three beams!
The beams are temporarily screwed into their places, I’ll make some nice steel brackets to secure them permanently
Installed the clerestory framing!
A small awning window will fit in that rough opening
Barn loft floor board that a friend and I tore out. Figured out that I had just enough to use for the main roof
1 inch by 13 oak! I had five of these and the rest were yellow pine
Boards being screwed down
Getting closer, and looking pretty rustic
Full roof
View from up top, will be covered with roofing felt (or equivalent) and then 3 inches of polyiso, and eventually standing seam.
The front end was covered with the off cuts
Loft bead board ceiling
The loft roof insulation will be between the studs
Both ceilings in!
I have a much better sense of what the space will feel like now that it is closed in. It feels good generally, I know that I made the right decisions for the roof height, and changing the loft design, but the space feels a little dark with such a dark ceiling, could be that it’s under tarps right now, but if it continues to feel that way I’ll paint the ceiling boards.
